Jodi Van Horne is the Emergency Response Medical Specialist at VMC/Homeland Security Programs at West Virginia University (WVU). In this role, she assists with projects related to disaster planning for special needs populations and other emergency management related topics.

Ms. Van Horne
teaches all levels of incident command courses and a course on Emergency Planning and Special Needs Populations. She graduated from West Liberty State College, completed a Masters in Public Administration from WVU, and currently is working on a PhD in Political Science, also at WVU.

Ms. Van Horne spent nine years as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician before taking a career position as a firefighter/paramedic with the Charleston Fire Department in Charleston, WV, where she served for eight years. She left public service in 2005 as a lieutenant, U.S. Department of Labor journeyman firefighter, and Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic. In addition, Ms. Van Horne taught for the American Heart Association and the West Virginia State Board of Education in related topic areas.
